Gallery: 1914-1916 Description: The Arizona (BB-39) leaving Brooklyn Navy Yard on her shakedown cruise. As completed, the ship had very little superstructure and a small bridge. Rangefinders are visible atop both masts. The mast mounted radio antennae have been lowered for passage under the East River bridges. The Panama Canal and the height of the East River bridges set the size limitations for United States battleships through the WW II era Iowa class (BB-61-64).
